How I keep my skillz sharp in the off-season

I had to give a poster presentation for the ESL class I'm taking. I could choose any aspect of ESL to present, preferably one that is meaningful to my job. I had fun doing this... kinda like a combination of scrapbooking and putting a bulletin board together. Two of my favorite things. :)

As you can see, I chose assessment as my topic. When I become a reading specialist, assessing students will be one of my responsibilites. (Oh joy.) I'm actually going to take this poster to school to see if my principal wants it for the faculty room. Since our school population is about 96% Hispanic, we deal with ESL kids all the time. And none of our classroom teachers were trained to teach ESL, so hopefully they can get some use out of this. I'd hate to just throw it away.

Incidentally, today was the last day of class for the summer semester. I'm taking one class in fall semester and then I GRADUATE!

It looks really good! Those are two of my favorite things to do too. Those things are some of the fun parts of teaching to me. Hee!

Beautiful poster! Did the little cut-out hands come pre-cut, or do you have access to an Ellison Letter Cutter? When I was teaching, I loved using the electric hole punch, poster maker, and laminator, but I constantly wished for an Ellison Letter Cutter. Maybe, if I get rich as a Social Worker (cough, cough), I'll be able to buy one for myself!

Best of luck with the new school year!

I have access to a die-cutter. It's my favorite thing in the whole wide world. :)
