WTF?

I'm watching the news, and I had to vent about a story I just heard. A local high school sent about 100 kids home because they didn't have documentation of their Hepatitis-B vaccination. They interviewed all these parents and students who were complaining about it, saying that it was a new rule and they never heard about it. However, the school has sent home 5 letters about the new rule since last spring, they had a notice about it playing on a local cable channel, students were reminded daily in their homerooms, AND the school offered FREE SHOTS at the high school last month.

What is wrong with people? Why can't parents just read what comes home in their child's folder? Why can't they take responsibility for their own actions, instead of blaming other people? It just burns me up, is all.

The best part is that they don't read what's in the folders, but when you forget to send the folder? You are the worst teacher on earth and everything is clearly your fault.

It is what I like to call "hands off approach to parenting". Very sad. Often, they blame the student rather than themselves.
