Like most people, eBay is where I go when I have one of those "quests"... those things that I can't find anywhere else because they're old or have been discontinued or are out of print. My most recent quest was to find Crayola Mini-Stamper Markers.
The infamous Mini-Stampers
I simply adore these markers. In college, my best friend and I used them to decorate envelopes when we sent each other our weekly letters. When I started teaching, I found a whole new use for them. Our first grade reader introduces about 5 or 6 new sight vocabulary words every week (words that the kids should know as soon as they see them). Every week, I copy the words onto card stock and attach them to a one inch binder ring. We call them "Word Rings," and the kiddos love being responsible for carrying them to and from school.
A word ring from last year's class
They read their words to me throughout the week. Each time they read it correctly, they get a stamp (that's where my markers come in). Once a word has 3 stamps, I take it off of their ring, because they know it. For the past few weeks, I've been searching everywhere for these stampers, but I think they've been discontinued. I tried eBay, and as luck would have it, I found 2 different people selling them! I found out today that I won both bids, so I'll be getting my markers in about a week. Whoo-hoo!
It's the little victories in life that make it all worthwhile, right? :)
